This evening’s main topic was ‘5 Tips to make more impact with your photography’, or alternatively, ‘5 Tips to improve your images’. The presentation consisted of a slide show containing a number of advisable details on photographic improvement.
Briefly the tips were as follows:-
- Patience
- Critique Your own Work.
- Shoot in the right light.
- Chose your main subject of focus.
- Post Editing Techniques.
- Bonus Tip - Off Camera Flash
Members receive a copy of the presentation in the club newsletter.
Although these are quite a wide selection of tips, there is a possibility to go deeper at a future Focus Point.
The ‘Monthly Competition’ entitled ‘Abstract’ was held.
The winners were:-
- 1st - 'Probably... Not' by John Horton
- 2nd - 'Roads to Heaven & Hell' by Sue Poole
- 3rd - 'Untitled' by Di Picket
Please note that entries (rectangular, up to 7 x 5 ins) for the Monthly competition can be made without mounts – when needed, mounts will be available at the start of the session.
The ‘Quarterly Competition’ entitled ‘Canals & Waterways’ was held.
The winners were:-
- 1st - 'Laplander' by John Horton
- 2nd - 'Hidden Waterway' by John Horton
- 3rd - 'Moorhen on Newport Canal' by Sue Poole
- 3rd - 'Home is where the barge is' by Joan Banks
