april meeting news
This month’s topic was on ‘Back Button Focus’.
Back Button Focus - or Focus Lock - is a little used (and may I say, understood) facility on most modern cameras’. We therefore had a short presentation of the function; when to use it and how it works. The presentation was followed by a short practice session. For those that didn’t bring their camera please check your camera manual for how to locate the feature.
AOB - The chairman of the “1940’s Event” at Ironbridge Park over the Bank Holiday at the end of May 2018, has advised us that could have an area of the ‘Entertainment’ marquee provided we can ensure the safety of the public. Doing this would mean that we would be covered by their ‘Public Liability Insurance’. It was agreed that we would take up the offer and Joan is to check the details with the chairman of the event organisers. We need volunteers to attend to the clubs display over the two days of the event which takes place on the 26th and 27th May. Volunteers will be briefed beforehand into the function of the ‘display’. If anyone has any photographs they would like to be used on the display would they please bring them to the clubs meeting on 21st May at the Birchmeadow Centre.
The ‘Monthly Competition’ entitled ‘Communications’ was held.
The winners were:-
- 1st - 'The Foods Over There' by Linda Evans
- 2nd - 'No Words Needed' by Di Pickett
- 3rd - 'Three Ways to Connect' by Joan Banks
Please note that entries (rectangular, up to 7 x 5 ins) for the Monthly competition can be made without mounts – when needed, mounts will be available at the start of the session.
The ‘Quarterly Competition’ entitled ‘Parts of a Car’ was held.
For the first time, we had multiple numbers of images that received the same score resulting in an extended list of ‘winners’.
The winners were:-

- 3rd - 'Smokin' - Joan Banks

Our next meeting will be at the Birchmeadow Centre, Broseley at 19:30 on Monday 21st May 2018.
Topic will be ‘The Sea’, We will have a discussion on Seascapes - something we don’t seem to have covered.
